The Arch Company unveils plaque to celebrate award-winning restoration of railway arches at Findlater's Corner

Southwark, October 2024 – The Arch Company has unveiled a new plaque at Findlater’s Corner in London Bridge to commemorate the completion of the award-winning restoration of four historic railway arches.
The Southeastern Railway Commercial Restoration Award was awarded to The Arch Company and partners Benedict O'Looney Architects and Frankham Group at the National Railway Heritage Awards last November. The Award celebrated the restoration of derelict arches at the historic former home of Victorian wine merchants Findlater, Mackie and Todd. Located next to London Bridge station, the arches played host to Findlater, Mackie and Todd for more than a century, until 2018 when the final tenants left the parade. In 2019, The Arch Company took over the site and began renovations in 2022.
The extensive capex works included restoring the Edwardian frontage, repairing the iconic clock and returning the ceramic stag's head to its former glory, as well as turning the derelict interiors into striking spaces for new businesses to move into. During the renovations, a Victorian glass tile mosaic was uncovered and it is now visible for those passing by under the viaduct to enjoy.
The previously unloved arches are now set to welcome four new restaurant and shops into the area, with Oseyo, Starbucks, SushiDog and Xi’an BiangBiang Noodles all slated to open later this year. We look forward to seeing all four businesses thriving!
